May 3, 2006—The CDC reported it is investigating 164 reports of fusarium keratitis infections. The CDC has confirmed diagnoses of fusarium keratitis in 86 of those cases and is investigation additional reports.
On April 13, 2006, the CDC provided data on 56 confirmed cases of fusarium keratitis. This data indicates a strong correlation between use of ReNu products and development of this serious eye infection.
